Flavorwire on the State of Libraries

It's not a pretty picture, according to Flavorwire, North American libraries are seeing very slow growth in libraries are seeing very little increases (if any) to their budgets. The reality is the libraries need an increased budget to support growing populations.

It doesn't get more Canadian than this! Susanna Moodie, reinterpreted by Carol Shields with an introduction by Margaret Atwood in the graphic novel version of Roughing it in the Bush. I was never a fan of Roughing it in the Bush when I was a kid; this amazing version is awesome and young and old will get a real kick out of it. Libraries everywhere!

Although it wasn't planned, we went to many libraries when we were in the UK and Ireland. The British Library's main exhibit of the key pieces was absolutely amazing. In one room you had a First Folio of Shakespeare's work, 1st editions of Jane Austen, original lyrics from Lennon and McCartney, a Gutenberg Bible and tons more. It was simply awe inspiring.
