DK Canada is thrilled to share their "Stay Home, Stay Curious" campaign on DK Canada's website.

This hub will house content from across DK Canada's books and divisions. Everything from home learning ideas, recipe extracts to great Canadian content such as a free downloadable teacher's guide for Our Great Prime Ministers. There's also DIY ideas & Gardening tips as well as excerpts to make staying fit at home easy!

Kate Greenaway and CILIP Carnegie Medal Shortlists Announced

The shortlists for the Kate Greenaway Medal and the CILIP Carnegie Medal were released this week. The Kate Greenaway shortlist includes bewitching ode to nature The Lost Words (House of Anansi) illustrated by Jackie Morris, alongside the latest from Jon Klassen, an illustrated history of the suffragette movement by David Roberts, and more. Last year saw Canadian illustrator Sydney Smith win for his illustrations in Town Is by the Sea (Groundwood Books).

Library Bound Rocks!

This month, Library Bound hosted the Dewey's at Richmond Hill Public Library. Susan Wallace, the most charming presenter, welcomed over 40 librarians from 12 different systems. Many thanks Library Bound for all your hard work!

Not Your Grandparent's Library!

Did you know that between 1990 and 2014, library visits have grown by nearly 200 percent?! With continued community engagement and partnering, libraries are as popular as ever, and this rise in attendance doesn't look to be slowing any time soon. Cool new digs for Anansi!

At the end of the year, House of Anansi and Groundwood Books will be leaving Spadina for the Junction area in Toronto. They will be moving into the former Scythes Textile Factory on Sterling Avenue. At the front of the building will be a store front which will double as a showroom and event space. Click here for more details.

Shannen and the Dream for a School

It was wonderful to see on the front page of the Globe this morning that Shannen's dream for a school in  Attawapiskat was finally coming to fruition...Parliment has said that they would take steps to ensure that all first nations children would have the same quality of education as all Canadian children. As mentioned before, Second Story press has published a wonderful book on this story: Shannen and the Dream for a School.

Canadian Bookshelf is now in Beta Testing

Canadian Bookshelf, the resource for all Canadian books is now in Beta testing. The intent is to officially launch in the Fall. They do have a section dedicated specifically for Teachers and Librarians. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, they would love to hear them. Their tagline is "if it's Canadian, it's here".

Moving On. . .

Just a quick note to say that mostly due to other work commitments and there being only so many hours in a day, Lahring and I have left the Dewey Divas group.  We'll still be voraciously reading, recommending and doing book talks as individual book reps, and posting picks each season on the library portion of the Random House of Canada website.

I've really enjoyed blogging here over the last five years and I just want to say thanks to all the readers who have left comments or e-mailed me, particularly those who cheered me on during my NYRB Reading Challenge.  I'll still be blogging and reviewing books over at my personal blog, Julia Hedge's Laces, although it has a slightly different focus than this blog.  Blogging might be a bit slow over the summer though, as I take a break from all things electronic to focus on enjoying the summer, interacting with actual humans, and of course to get some reading done (the old-fashioned paper kind!).  Hope all of you find time to relax and pick up your own great reads over the summer.
