One-Way Bridge

One time Canadian Cathie Pelletier has a new book coming out and the advance buzz has been pretty great! I was not familiar with her work, but a few of the reps in our office were and were pretty excited. I took their lead and had a thoroughly good time reading One-Way Bridge. Fans will be thrilled to return to their beloved Mattagash and for newbies like me, what a delight to discover. She has fans such as Ruchard Russo, Fannie Flagg and our own Alistar MacLeod.

We all know and love Women & Women First, the spectacularly user unfriendly feminist bookstore from Portlandia; but how cool is it when they visit a real feminist bookstore?

Will Gutenberg laugh last?

I saw a great quote the other day by Stephen Fry: "the Kindle is no more a threat to the printed book than the escalator was to the staircase".  Here is a good article discussing the whole death of the printed book. Nicholas Carr supports his piece with lots of numbers.

So I know I am not the most techie person out there, but I think I am officially the last person to know what a "meme" is and the super popular "Hey Girl" Ryan Gosling memes. The funniest one I have seen is "Hey Girl I Like the Library Too". They are so hip that Chronicle Books is doing a Hey Girl journal. Back under my rock I go!
