The Pharos Gate: Griffin and Sabine’s Lost Correspondence lands today!

Nick Bantock's final book in the Griffin and Sabine series,The Pharos Gate,  is in stores today. It coincides with the 25th anniversary of when the first book came out in the series. In this PW article, Nick talks about his inspiration for the series which came from a walk from the post office where he was tired of getting only junk mail. He had the vision of a series of wonderful, enigmatic letters between a man and a woman. The rest is history!

Loan Stars

Loan Stars is here! What is Loan Stars?
Loan Stars is the new readers’ advisory service that allows library staff across Canada to collaboratively select their favourite forthcoming titles. Using CataList, the online catalogue tool available free to libraries, library staff can nominate their favourite adult fiction and non-fiction titles, the most popular of which will be marketed to libraries and library users alike.
Loan Stars is a joint collaboration between the Canadian Urban Libraries Council (CULC), BookNet Canada, the British Columbia Library Association (BCLA) Readers’ Advisory Committee, the Ontario Library Association (OLA) Readers’ Advisory Committee, library vendors, independent Canadian publishers, multi-national publishers, and more.

Judy Sarick Remembered

The amazing Judy Sarick passed away last week. She was the force behind The Children's Bookstore that opened in Toronto in 1974 and made a significant impact on Canadian children and books published for them. The Globe did a wonderful piece on her and her legacy.
